Alchemy Skill
Characters with the Alchemy Skill understand and can manipulate the raw elemental energies that exist within all material, this sort of magical chemistry replaces the chemistry of the real world in the Darkrealm setting, and is based around every substance in the world being imbued with several levels of elemental energy, which can be released and mixed to generate a magical effect, or a new substance. Characters with this skill can create concoctions and potions from rare or common ingredients with the application of the right forces and condition.These usually take the form of specific formulae, but the base skill entails an understanding of how the properties alchemical theory function.

Unskilled


The character has a vague idea that the world is made up of the eight elements, though they can scarcely fathom what this might mean.

Beginner (1-3)


The character has dabbled in extracting and purifying elements from their natural forms, and can identify the elemental components of a substance and generate their most obvious effects. The character can create brews with Beginner effects and methods of delivery.

Advanced (4-6)


The character is well practised with distilling pure elemental properties from base and complex materials, and can combine them in a range of unusual forms and exotic effects. The character can create brews with Advanced effects and methods of delivery. Brews can have up to two separate (non-conflicting) effects.

Complex (7-9)


The character has practically mastered summoning the most uncanny and seemingly impossible effects from the elements. He can reliably extract, distil and hold in solution even the most complex of elements. The character can create brews with Complex effects and methods of delivery. Brews can have up to three separate (non-conflicting) effects.

Peak (10)


The character's ability to manipulate the energies of the world is almost indiscernible from true magic. There are few energies this character cannot bind given time and resources. The character can create brews with Peak effects and methods of delivery. Brews can have up to three separate effects.

Brews


Alchemy is a structured, almost scientific process, and as such a single element or border-element will have a reliable and consistent effect when used in a particular delivery method so long as it is handled correctly. Creating an alchemical Brew consists of two parts. First the element must be successfully distilled and that Distillation must be held in stasis. Secondly that Distillation is adapted into a Brew that has a single Delivery Method by which it affects its target.

A Distillation's Intense or Powerful Talent will always be equal to the value of the creator's Alchemy Skill, and the Distillation will pass this Talent onto any Brew made with it. A character must choose a Delivery Method for any Brew, and then may choose one (or more depending on Skill level) Element from which to draw and Effect. In all cases the character must have a level of Skill equal to the requirement on the table below. If a test to create a Brew succeeds by sufficient margin to generate an Advantage then that Advantage can be applied as an additional effect to the Brew.
