Brickshill

Once the site of the quarry from which much of the stone for the inner city was cut, Brickshill is now a region of merchants, expensive shops and eateries populated by the moneyed when they venture from the walled security of the inner city. Mainly a tradesmen's district, Brickshill is mostly populated by wealthy professionals, as well as most of the barristers and advocates of the city. With clear view of the inner city perched on the clifftop above them, most of the folk of Brickshill are very ambitious, hoping to make one more step and have an address in Birdhe or Broadstreet one day. Markets are common, and a number of wide squares bustle with activity most days, but this also makes Brickshill one of the favorite for both the city's cutpurses and the bulk of the mungie population, who snatch food from stalls and shriek at passers by from atop canvas stalls. The buildings here are jammed on top of and around one another. Skywalks jut out over streets, and attics have been converted into homes or shops, made accessible by walkways or external stairs. Alleys and roads often wind up stairways as the land slopes steeply towards the cliffs, and buildings are extended upwards and upwards, different styles from different ages are evident like layers in the stone face of the cliff.
