To avoid the predations of bandits and org, the caravaneers of Kel Saratose have long employed outriders like Credas to scout ahead and ensure that the way is safe. Not the most sought-after or accomplished of his profession, Credas is not green either, and his heavy spear has many notches in its butt in remembrance of foes it has taken. Working the western route between Ashkel and Enekarn, Credas is slowly building a good name for himself.

Lanky and long-legged, with a loping gait and nervous eyes; Credas might be a fine rider, able warrior, and deceptively strong of limb, but he looks rather uncomfortable in his own skin, as if his body were a hand-me-down garment which he was still growing into. A mop of light cocoa hair surmounts a wide head, with fixed, small pupiled eyes of a pale hazel, a broad, mirthful mouth, and a full, cropped beard. Long, sinewy arms and legs sprout from a lean, slightly elongated trunk, and noticeably short, thick legs that have the splayed swagger of a man frequently in the saddle. Since Credas' profession often put him at risk he wears a ring mail vest and open-faced conical helm when mounted, as well as carrying a short bow and spear, but beneath these he wears a simple leather jerkin and raw hide riding trousers.

Professional, capable, and reliable might all be terns that would describe Credas. While the tall man appreciated a good joke and a soft bed, he knows that the best way to get it is with coin, and the best way to coin is to do a good job and warrant reward. Living in a relatively peaceful realm has given Credas aspirations that a man of his station might not hold elsewhere, but glimpsing a few of the terrors of the world beyond Kel Saratose's placid valley has tempered ambition with humility, and Credas remains respectful and is well liked by employers because he knows his place. Credas is cautious, and employers do well to heed his warnings, conservative as he may seem.
