The scholar Denier Harkreft was a Forthest based historian who, in the year 5106 KS (1443 HC) was sent by his patron Earl Samartin of Forthest to assemble an atlas of the entire world. Denier's trip took him through all of Ahlonia, Iria, and Ralstaa and into the Ghanish states, where he assembled documentation on the northern glaciers of the Bärchak and the Kardes from local scholars, before travelling Nardaan and losing his life to a severe chill while preparing for a trip over the Irgattu Strait to Haedrasia. He was succeeded in his task by his Malorn assistant and guide Cecala, who went on to chart the Arumthar region, the Inner Sea region, Maldaakore and the lost lands known as the Fringe before returning to Forthest with the assembled document. The resulting document, the most complete of it's kind known, is called the Harkreft Atlas.
The Introduction section of this wiki draws heavily on the Impressions and writings of Harkreft and Cecala.
