Farming Skill
The study of the Farming Skill is central to the majority of the civilized races of Allornus. Agriculture is the ability to use the land, both the plants and beasts, to produce crops, meat, dairy and other goods - such as cotton - which allow a civilized race to support large, concentrated populations, and thus become civilized. Thus a character with the farming skill knows how to use the land to grow crops and raise stock. He understands things like crop circulation, how to manipulate the land through ploughing, turning, or irrigating it, and how to mix grazing land with land under cultivation year to year to increase fertility and thus yield. Of course, the Animal Handling and Herbalism skills will still help him better understand what the specific crop or stock he has chosen to raise.
