Gaelind Tam

intro name

The Viceroy of Foere is a tall, willowy man, soft spoken and with a slow, precise way of moving. His outward appearance is very severe, with totally shaved head and sharp features. His nose is hooked and his mouth is narrow lipped and small, and his dark eyes thickly browed and piercing. His face lacks the lines of his age, and he has a kind of timelessness in his visage.

The Viceroy is intentionally enigmatic, and few people know what to make of Tam, or how to deal with him, and they are equally baffled by the extent of his power. Despite the enigma built up around his persona, people who are close to Tam know that he is a careful, painfully intelligent man. His thoughts are often far above the realms of the mortal, and he spends a great portion of his time in deep meditation, and yet seems strangely grounded. Guarded and seemingly ascetic Tam has a mind like a trap, and is aware of everything that goes on in the Broken Kingdom, he just chooses not to let on the extent of his own intelligence and perceptivness.

Gaelind is a man in his middle forties now, though no one would guess it. He was born in the lands of the federation in a commune who farmed one of the ancient farmsteads on the coast. He was a studious boy, fascinated by the ruins in and around which his home was built, and was fascinated by the inscriptions and the images that he found on solitary stones. In his fourteenth year he took it upon himself that he would learn all there was to know about the art of magecraft. To that end he travelled to the town of Eyeth where he acquired a small library from the widow of a local magician. Returning home he devoted himself to his studies, and as he learned more so he began to barter his trade, and to use this to increase his library and expand his knowledge. Eventually, unable to any longer work from his home Tam went to Foere, where he continued his operation. The former Viceroy was a superstitious man, obsessed with the idea that shade assassins would come for him because he was inadequate and proud. He quickly befriended Tam out of a firm belief that he needed protective magic. Eventually, ironically he fell to s Shade assassin while touring his realm, and Gaelind Tam was elected as his successor.
