Sigisman Of Greyshore

Sigisman of Greyshore is the watch captain and chief magistrate of Ravvh. An old Dunsain river-boater who used to carry goods up and down the Silver River in his youth, Sigisman is familiar with the city, but unlike many locals he knows the land outside well too. Gruff and short tempered, Sigisman is more likely to use force than guile to settle a problem, and accusations that the man is in the pocket of one of several noble houses are rife.

Description

Sigisman is stocky, broad shouldered and beefy armed. He wears his golden hair at rough shoulder length, loose and tangled, framing a hawk-nosed face. He has thick bushy eyebrows and a full beard framing large, expressive eyes, and is seldom without a helmet and chain shirt, even when presiding as magistrate in the blockhouse. Sigisman is a hard drinker with a thick Dunsain accent and a fondness for using his club.

Personality

A simple man who holds his post largely from a sheer lack of ambition. A natural bully, his direct, blunt approach to using his power makes sure that no one in Ravvh questions whether or not the watch will intercede if they try anything crimnal. He knows that he is under staffed and underfunded, even when he press-gangs locals into service, and knows that the gangs are more than he can handle, but he refuses to let the other locals think that means he has no influence. Sigisman was a tradesman, a labourer until his appointment to the watch. He was press-ganged off his river barge during a riot and grew to like cracking heads in the watch.

History

Born in the town of Greyshore a few days upriver, he travelled in and out of The City frequently, and knows the Starwood as well as the western city. Never retiring, getting seriously hurt, shrugging his duty, or being worthy of being relocated, but doggedly making criminals regret their actions eventually left Sigisman eventually in command of the entire Ravvh watch. No one seemed to make the decision, but no one seemed to object much either, and when none of the local noble houses objected the Lord High Provost made the role permanent.
