Political Geography

Sukkadia became a protectorate of Dol Sardis to the east two centuries ago, thanks to a largely ineffectual line of Nasir and a vast migration from the local Irinos to Malk and Sandour. Impoverished by their passion for the border-line wizardry of alchemy and metallurgy, Sukkadia needed help, and the Drujites were able to almost literally purchase the realm out from under its rulers. Still, Sukkadia never really became part of its new overlord, the Drujite prophecies never found much of a following here, and so Dol Sardi merely exploits Sukkadia's rather odd wealth and leaves it mostly to itself. A status quo that suits both lands fine.

Social Geography

long ago the people of Sukkadia turned a wealth in naturally occurring alchemical reagents, and a number of sundering-forged oddities, into a national identity, and though Sukkadia is now no more than a protectorate of Dol Sardis it maintains this identity with fire-eyed tenacity.

Notable Individuals

Swapril Kamlesh
The famed Talthakee mercenary commander Swapril Kamlesh, known also as ‘The Breath of the Hungerer’ to his own people, is the veteran of a hundred skirmishes. His band, the Gurpa Bodh, sailed from the north of Ahlonia a decade ago, and are based in Sukkadia, in a settlement hidden somewhere in the mountains. They have deployed alongside armies as distant as Malk and Assardan. Not strictly an outlaw, Kamlesh is generally not welcome in civilized lands, and usually uses the landsmen elements of his band to buy supplies, while keeping to wild regions, trading with tiny settlements that are less wary of his ilk, and camping in the wilderness between campaigns. Some have suggested that the goblyn is involved with small groups of bandits, but others claim that his men have collected bounties on a number of groups he is said to have patronized. Wealthy and in much demand, it does seem unlikely that the Gurpa Bodh would have time for such petty banditry, but those who have met the cunning Kamlesh are never so sure.

Today In the Land of Wonders…

There is a rumour that small groups of men and goblyns under the banner of the Gurpa Bodh have been sacking tiny settlements and burning them to the ground in the wild northern territories. This would be uncharacteristic behaviour for the mercenaries, even if you were to believe the rumours of banditry that plague the group. Could it be that they have taken to all out thievery for want of lucrative regular work, or could the mercenary be carving out a kingdom for himself? Or perhaps they have a patron who has asked that these settlements be moved along. Of course, it is possible that the group could just be bandits posing as Gurpa Bodh, but if so why would they go to the effort of such a ruse?
