Trade Tongue
Trade Tongue is the colloquial name given to the language of the landsmen of Ahlonia. More correctly the language is referred to as Ahlonian, but very few use this name, even in formal writings. Ahlonian has its roots in a combination of Iri and modern (low) Ralstaan, borrowing sounds, and entire words from each meaning that Ahlonian traders are roughly intelligible (and no more) to speakers of either language - though this is not to say that trade tongue is not its own language, simply that enough words are shared or similar as to convey general meaning to a speaker of Ralstaan or Iri.
