Winebridge

Winebridge is the lesser cousin of The Lights. Wide streets flanked with the homes of minor nobility, broken by occasional wedged estates and split through the middle by the Silver River. Here the waters still flow fresh and clean and shine with the silvery shimmer that gives the river its name. The brave may even draw water from the river, though not with much regularity. Winebridge is named for the large bridge that spans the Silver River in the north of the district, the only bridge crossing the Silver River from which the river can actually be seen. The Winebridge is only two levels high and the buildings that stand on either side of the street only go up a single level, so that when crossing one can walk above the rooftops and see out across nearly all of The City.

Winebridge Park sits on the far side of the bridge. While the keep side of the bridge is generally a more desirable place to reside, houses that back onto the park are also extremely fashionable. It is famous as a place where lovers have secret trysts and the finest poets go for inspiration. Winebridge park has all the ethereal beauty of the Starwood, with none of the lurking danger. It is a small space, but stretches around walled estates and buildings up the banks of the river, so that while it is narrow a stroll through the park can easily take up hours, and hidden grottos, shrines and plazas make for discoveries even for regular visitors. Unfortunately lately the mungies and faeries have flocked to the park in large numbers, and groups of one or both harass anyone entering the park.

Control of Winebridge is split between House Cavish, House Coumbh and House Taliniere, with House Voergard, House Saege and House Verne all owning their own estates as well. The district is entirely populated by Ralstaans, though traffic through the gates of Rallah's Keep that open onto Broad Street just south of the Wine Bridge itself can be of any race or nationality. The plaza opposite is the place where the knights of Ralstaa drill and tourneys here are regular and extremely popular, though many contests will be fought to first blood rather than the death for the sake of local morale. Battles to the death usually occur within the keep.
